A Brief Introduction

A Brief Introduction

By Lily Weeks

Hello! My name is Lily, and welcome to my blog!

A Little Bit About Myself

I'm a twenty-year-old multimedia artist, currently studying psychology in my senior year at Florida State University. I work in a variety of mediums, most often devoting my time to independent film and music production. Here are some screenshots from the weird stuff I make:

While I intend to keep creating art for the rest of my life, it is a famously difficult career to pursue. So as not to put all of my eggs in one basket, I have spent my years in college preparing for a career that is either psychology or education adjacent. I currently plan on acquiring a teacher's license in either art or psychology, while still creating things that I am passionate about.

My Experience with Educational Technology

As someone who grew up in the 2000s, the vast majority of my education has been extremely technology-centric. When I was in elementary school, many of my teachers used educational games and computer programs such as FCAT Explorer and Reflex Math. This early exposure to technology not only made learning basic reading and math skills much easier and entertaining, it also made the entire process of using computer programs far more intuitive than it is for older generations. This foundational understanding of educational technology has stuck with me throughout the rest of my academic career, as I steadily use more advanced and professional resources in a variety of educational settings.

My Personal Learning Networks

As a college student, most of my learning resources are those provided by the school. Most commonly I use the online FSU library for peer reviewed articles and scientific journals. This comes especially in handy as a psychology major, since many of the research papers and group projects I have worked on require these types of peer reviewed sources. Beyond these online resources, I also occasionally get one on one help with the professors in some of my smaller classes. For example, my Italian classes are usually very small and offer a more personalized learning experience than some of my larger classes, making the help of my instructor a much more consistent and valuable resource.

Excited to Write More Soon!

  1. Hi Lily! As someone who has interest in performing arts, I understand your viewpoint of trying not to put all your eggs in one basket, having "backups" of psychology or teaching feel strong and I know can go a long way for providing peace of mind. I would be interested in learning more about the different kinds of technological resources that you utilize in making your films and music. Have you considered combining your abilities potentially with whatever you want to explore with education? It could allow you to explore creatively while still being secure! Also, I liked how you formatted your journal with the shaded sections!
