 Teacher Website

For this part of the blog, I attempted to go through the Atmos Godby High School website. Unfortunately I was unable to access individual teacher sites without aoecual login info. However, I was able to look through the main pages of the site and get a feel of what they thought was most important for the general public to know about them. This mostly included awards and student centered initiatives meant to portray a positive image for the school.

Using Tech Peofessionally

My use of technology in a professional setting will entirely depend upon where I end up career wise. If I manage to make an art career work, then it will become a consistently important tool for my day to day work life. This is especially true given the editing and production software I consistently use as an artist even now. If I do pursue education, I would use software like Schoology to create a more communal environment.


PB Works

Using PB Works was certainly an interesting experience. I really enjoyed working as a group to design a cohesive wiki page, and thought it was a useful tool for practicing basic web design. That being said, I think the site itself is a little outdated, with an insecure connection and a lackluster visual style. Overall I think it was good for what we were using it for in class, but it's probably not the most top of the line wiki software available.

 

Twitter Challenge

To be entirely honest, I was not aware of the Twitter days challenge. I think it's certainly an interesting concept with great potential for bringing the educational field together. I didn't participate in it primarily because I was unaware of it, but if I had been I probably still would have sat this one out. I'm not a particularly avid Twitter user and would feel a little out of place using it for that purpose.

  My Diigo Experience  I've had a limited exposure to Diigo thus far. That being said, I do have some basic opinions on it. I think that as a classroom tool, it is useful to share important links and informative sites. This makes it more centralized and convenient for everyone in the class to see what they need to. Blog Journal 5

Exposure to Twitter I started using Twitter in 8th grade primarily to read tweets from artists and celebrities I was interested in. That element is still present in how I use Twitter today, but my current usage has evolved a bit too. I frequently use it to contact friends, and for a while, primarily used it for news and keeping up with global political discussions. Unfortunately, Elon Musk bought the company in late 2022, and my overall usage and faith in the site has plummeted. It is still very helpful for basic networking, but with massive employee layoffs, the consistent promotion of far right wing ideals, (particularly transphobia and Covid denial), and several detrimental changes to the site's design, my future with it is totally up in the air. Blog Journal 10

PowerPoint Interaction Designing the interactive PowerPoint was a lot of fun overall. It was especially interesting learning how to make the presentation engaging and fun while also being educational. I had never created a PowerPoint with such a high level of interactivity so it was a great experience. Classmate Blogs I really enjoyed seeing how different design aesthetics were used amongst my peers' work. Some of them were certainly more appealing than others, but it was great seeing everyone's creativity over all. I also enjoyed learning about everyone's different interests outside the class, and their motivation for pursuing education as a career. Technology Skills I would really like to learn more about website design. While I have some experience making websites using simplified design tools, I have never designed a site from scratch. As someone who releases art in need of being promoted online, it would be an extremely useful skill.
